Haha, that title sounds so grand!
Really this project was super simple. The desk had no sheen left on it at all so I just did a light sanding to start. I did go ahead and do a thin coat of primer (because I had some in the garage already).
Next came 2.5 cans of Rustoleum spray paint! Worked beautifully. I let that dry a while and then looked around the garage for a color to do some stripes. I ended up going with the same stencil color I used on my living room cabinet.
I taped off for that and then painted on my stripe design. Easy enough. The paint did bleed in a couple spots under my tape, but we are going to call it “charming”!
We then changed out the handle and mod podged in a piece of fabric to line the drawer. All finished.
He is tickled to death with it! Asking me several times a day to come to look at it. Like it has changed or something. We don’t have a chair yet, but are on the look out!
What do you think? Better than the desks former life of green.
Are you working on anything right now? Shar and Lindsay have me itching for a new wreath for my front door!
Have a lovely day my friends!

Jesse, I LOVE it. The stripes are such a great touch! Love your DIY projects on here
And I think a wreath should be next on your list. We should have a wreath link up!
I think that is a great idea Linds!
Jesse!!! You are sooo amazing! The desk looks awesome! Great job! For some reason….I am so scared to try anything like that…since refinishing the piano didn’t turn out very well…..
Hope you had a great weekend!!!
xoxo
Wow! I’ve never seen irregular striped painted on something, but I must admit – I love it! Fantastic! xx

Me too girl! =)
The desk turned out great! I stripes are perfect.
I bet the best part is how much he likes it.
I love it Jess! The stripes bring character. It turned out beautiful!
Oh, fun! I love the stripes. We have an old desk that we inherited from my husbands grandfather, and I’ve been wanting to do something with it. One of these days…
It turned out great! What a transformation from the ‘before’. I’ve been meaning to paint my desk (it was my husband’s mother’s and it’s about 50 yrs old. The paint is not in good shape now so it NEEDS some TLC badly) you’ve given me an extra boost to get it done!
I love that you lined the drawer too!
I love that he was so excited about his new desk. That is just precious.
Cute…er, handsome, I mean! LOL Job well done!
Perfect for a boy! I love that you used restraint when painting it, it’s just right.
My favorite part is that he was so excited for it! Too cute!
Love it, especially the little green teeth.
It turned out great! And how cute is it that he likes it so much! Awesome.
Sooooooooo fun! He picked the color gray himself right? I couldn’t think of a better color for that desk…wow! Your furniture makeovers are inspiring me for sure.
