Christmas Crafting

by Jesse on November 14, 2012

As we get closer to Thanksgiving my mind drifts to Christmas. Crafting and lots of family traditions to look forward to. I have been thinking of crafts we have done the last few years and thought today I might share some of them.

Maybe it will help to get your creative juices flowing…

The first year we did these Time Capsule Ornaments we had each of the kids answer questions, like their favorite color and wrapped the notes and popped them down inside the clear (plastic) ball. I wrote each of them a special note about how much I loved them as a surprise ornament. So we would know which one belonged to who, I glittered their initial on the outside of each ball.

One of my favorite things last years was our gift tags. A photo of each of the kids, tied to their packages. I will be repeating this again this year. Photo Gift Tags

A super easy banner made of doilies, glue and glitter.

We loved the Time Capsule Ornaments so much we decided to repeat them last year. This time I thought it would be sweet to have each of the kids write down what they loved about their brother or sister. It was a lot of fun. And a good reminder of when you are upset with someone to focus on what you love about them. To tell them apart, we dipped the bottom half of each ornament with each child’s favorite color.  Dipped Time Capsule Ornament

Okay, my favorite wreath ever… if you call it a wreath! LOL

I enjoy getting these out every year! A little bit of sparkle… =)

Jesse, these are all such great ideas! I love the idea of putting tags with the kids’ photos on their packages-very personalized. The white & silver polka dot wrapping is my kind of wrapping paper. 🙂 The time capsule ornaments are neat too. I’m going to try to think of things hubby and I can write and put inside them.

Thanks for sharing!

What a fantastic post! I love nothing more than putting my own mark on everything in my home and I must say I feel even more inspired now! I will definitely be trying something like this myself.
