Christmas Joy?

by Jesse on November 17, 2011

The Holidays are upon us! Can you believe that next week is Thanksgiving?!

I absolutely love this time of the year. Sadly that has not always been the case. Even up until last year I would get fever blisters from stress I put upon myself trying to please everyone. To be everything, to everyone and always feeling like a failure at it. I decided I HAD to make a change in my life. The joy on my children’s faces was being stolen by ridiculous family situations. So this year is a new year. All about my little family and our traditions and memories! I have so many fun things in store for the kids.

Every year one of the open shopping areas in town has a get together to turn on the Christmas lights marking the start of the Christmas season. Chocked full of caroling, hot chocolate and Santa! We are making it a new tradition to go every year.

I am super excited to be going to The Christmas Train this year! I have wanted to take the kids for a while now and feel like this year they are finally old enough to go and enjoy all that it has to offer.

I have a hot cocoa bar and crafting planned for the weekend after Thanksgiving. And something new this year for us is the Elf on a Shelf. I think that will be such fun! What about you? Are you ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all of joys of the season?

Don’t let someone or something steal your joy. It has taken me far too long to make a change, but I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally have those things off of my shoulders. Truly a weight lifted!

Hugs my friends! Have a wonderful weekend!

The year we started our own traditions for holidays was the most freeing year of all! Enjoy your children and make all of the memories you can! I can’t wait to read your blog posts showing all of your fun times. Elf on the Shelf just might be making a visit to our home too, thanks for the idea!
love you and your sweet family

oh sweetie, what a great change to make! I believe in the holidays as a time to be together, regardless of the presents and everything else being perfect. I really do. Many xoxo your way :)

Great thoughts! Holidays should be fun and relaxing, not crazy stressful and it’s hard to keep it stress free. You can do it! Enjoy :-)

I wholeheartedly agree with you Jesse! Mike and I made the decision last year that we will be waking up in our OWN HOME on Christmas morning from now on so that we can start our own traditions and guard ourselves from any family drama. Great post!
