Christmas Ornament

Christmas Ornament

by Jesse on November 22, 2010

I have dreamed about making ornaments
with my kids since before they were born.
Sounds silly, but it’s true. I looked forward to creating
holiday traditions and memories they will
cherish. Each year we are going to do
a few ornaments for each kid and put
them on their very own tree. And when they grow
up and have their first Christmas tree
they will have ornaments to decorate with.

Our 1st ornament this year is
a “time capsule” ornament.

An ornament with a special note
inside. A note you write when you are
little and open up when you decorate
your first Christmas tree as a grown up.

What you need:

{not this much, but you know each of my kids had to have their own}
clear plastic ball
silver {or any color} ribbon

Christmas Ornament

Cut your paper into strips,
add your message.
Each of the kids got 2 questions asked
of them and I wrote in their answers.
Then I made them each a
note about how special they are to
me in a 3rd note.

We rolled up each note and
tied it with ribbon.
Poked them inside the clear
plastic ball and put the top

Christmas Ornament

How would I know which one was which?
I took the glue and monogrammed
each ball.

I put on the glue and they
shook on the glitter.

Christmas Ornament

I am tickled at how pretty and special they turned out.
How I love Christmas and creating memories
with my kids.

Christmas Ornament

Do you have any holiday traditions that you
are starting?

Hugs to you all!
Have a wonderful day!

Oh how wonderful! I am tucking this one in my brain to do in a few years when my kiddos get old enough to answer those fun questions! Seriously, what a FANTASTIC idea!!!

Adorable! Are you going to add to it every year with different questions and different dates on each paper, or add the year like the monogram on the outside of the ornament? Either way, super amazing and definitely will be doing this with my littles. Thanks for the idea!
