Grace In Your Heart, and Flowers In Your Hair

by Jesse on October 28, 2012

I had my  playlist on shuffle when on came “After the Storm” by Mumford and Sons. These lyrics really hit me.

There will come a time you’ll see, with no more tears

And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears

Get over the hill and see what you find there

With Grace in your heart, and flowers in your hair

So powerful!

I have had my own struggles lately. Letting the enemy (devil) attack my positive attitude, and focusing on the things I should not be. It has been a saying at our house to never quit before you reach the Gold (medal so to speak). So when I heard the lyric, “Get over the hill and see what you find there”. It was such a motivator. Get over this hill, because what is on the other side is glory.

The Lord has been putting such great things in front of me to motive me and put my attitude back where it needed to be. A sermon at church a few weekends ago and then to remember what I have know for so long, that what you speak into your life becomes reality. I realize that on this blog I generally keep it light hearted and fun. There are lots of blogs that have more serious topics and such. But I felt the need to share, in hopes of helping someone else who might have been struggling the way I had been lately.

So from today forward I am going to work on not allowing in the negative. Only speak the positive. I heard recently that if you would like to know what your life will be like in 5 years you should just listen to what you are speaking today.

Hope this might help to start your week off right!

Hugs to you friends!

Beautiful, Jesse! I totally agree with that-what we speak and think of ourselves and our life often comes to fruition. I’m with you, I’ve let negative thoughts creep in lately and a little fear too, I need to let it all go lest it taint my future! Have a great week! 🙂

It seems so simple to just keep a positive attitude, but it can really be hard at time. =)

Hugs friend! Hope you are having a wonderful week!

I love this, and it’s such a powerful reminder. Something that always makes an impact on me when the Bible says the enemy comes to STEAL, kill and destroy. For those that he cannot pluck from the hand of God, his greatest tool is to steal… their joy, their purpose, their impact. Thanks for the great reminder to now allow the enemy to steal from us!

Also! 🙂 I, too, love Mumford, and you should read the lyrics to their new song “I will wait”. They have powerful meaning for me!

Thank you for sharing! And yes–this is so powerful. I call them “NATS”–negative automatic thoughts—and it is not how God intended us to live. Thank you for the reminder–and love that mumford song!

I can really relate to this. I have been going through a little bit of a hard time, getting sick a lot, then injuring my shoulder, going through some emotional turmoil because of an estranged relative suddenly popping back into my life…

I think we forget how powerful we are sometimes. How we can drive our own life forward, and set our own paths, create our own destiny.

I think that some of that has to do with the fact that as mothers, we tend to put everyone else’s needs ahead of ours, and that’s a bad habit. Not that we should be selfish, but we should nurture ourselves as much as we nurture everyone else, shouldn’t we? It helps us keeps strong.

Here’s to us! Hugs.

Cheers my friend! I totally agree, it is hard to make ourselves a priority. But we definitely need to.

I’m so glad. It’s nice when things that we need come just when we need them.
