Homeschool :: App Edition

Hi Friends!

Today I wanted to share a few new apps we have added to our school time. As a mom with a child who has a short attention span and loves video games, adding ipad/iphone apps to our daily school schedule has been a blessing. My little one needed something that would capture his roaming mind and these apps have been such a help.

1. Math Zombie – Free

A math app that covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. A kid favorite!

2. Grammer – Free (in app purchases available)

This one works on picking out verbs, nouns, adjectives and such out of sentences.

3. 3rd Grade Learning games – Free

Lots of different games for math and even language.

3. Mad Libs – (Free & in app purchases available)

You remember these right? I loved them as a kid and my kids do too. Not to mention working on English while having fun.

4. Mathmateer  – Free (Also .99 version)

This is a great one. Covers lots of math type topics all while earning points to build and launch rockets. Even works on telling time. Really love this one!

5. Brain Pop – Free

A daily video over different topics each day. Recently we covered Mozart. At the end of each video you can take quiz.

6.  Teach me sentences – Free (In app purchases available)

I like this one for my littles. It asks you to fill in the blank with the correct answer to each sentence.

7.  Itooch 3rd grade – $9.99

I really like this one. It’s pricey at $9.99, but I think it’s well worth it. It covers all things english.

Hope you enjoy these! These make the video game time so much more worth it!

Thanks! I might download Math Zombie for Stella.

What about Spelling City?

Elisa, We use the Spelling City online version, more often than the app. I haven’t actually played with that one very much. =)
