Missed Opportunity

We drove by a gem yesterday, a cute little house. It needed so much work! A dream project for a girl like me. My first thoughts went to the kitchen. I proceeded to tell my husband I could design him a kitchen that would rock his socks! He just laughed. =)

This little dream already has 3 offers on it! Darn! Well, I’ll dream any way.

I would start with white cabinets. They are timeless and classic. Wood tones go in and out of style, while white withstand the test of time.

Next up would be backsplash. While I love the tin backsplash I have in my current kitchen, I have been coveting the marble subway tile.

I think a fun spin on the backsplash would be to lay it in a herringbone pattern.

While it seems so right now, it truly is a classic pattern. And done in such a subdued color, I think it will look great for years to come.

While on the subject of trending and classic. I LOVE all the open shelving that is in right now. I doubt however I would go this bold, even though I think this is STUNNING! My OCD would kick into high gear constantly arranging and rearranging. Take a look at those pendants though! Gorgeous!

These two are more my speed. A touch of open shelving, allowing you to display some precious things without stuff overload. Not to mention, when this look leaves you don’t have to go in and add upper cabinets.

I am also digging that glam chandy in the above photo.

As for some finishing touches, I love these sconces. What a pretty touch, and that faucet is fabulous!

I am unsure which way I would go on the counter tops. I do like contrast. Speaking of contrast, I would definitely do something in a different wood tone when choosing an island. I am quickly realizing that an island would be such a help to have in my kitchen. We have room for one, so I am considering trying to find one. The kids are always wanting to help and I have held off letting them as much as they would like, just because  of the set up of it all.

What would be in your dream kitchen?

You and I very much have the same taste. I absolutely love all of the images you selected. I’m a big fan of light, white, airy with pops of pretty colors. Beautiful marble is my fave too in classic patterns.

Sorry to hear you missed the opportunity on the house.

I have white cabinets. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Love them for how bright it makes the room. Hate them for how dirty they get. I clean them everyday!

I know what you mean! I am constantly wiping mine down too!

Oooh, love all your choices. My dream kitchen would look very similar to yours… White cabinets, marble tile, large island… I hope that I can buy a fixer-upper to “play with” one day! 😉

A table. (yeah, our little apartment doesn’t even have a dining room table after 3 years here.)
