Summer Fun List ~ Surprise

by Jesse on May 20, 2012

I loved having a summer fun list last year. It was such a great way to soak up all that summer has to offer. Checking off each fun activities as we did them. This year I wanted to change it up and make even the list more fun. So I decided to make each activity a surprise.

I started with a paint pen, some burlap favor bags, a circle craft punch and some white card stock.

I placed some scrap cardboard down inside the favor bags and got out my paint pen. I just happened to have a stencil with numbers on it, so I used it to paint on a number to each bag.

I ended up with about 24 bags total.

Next to keep it interesting, I cut circles with the craft punch out of the white card stock.

Each circle has a summer activity on it.

The first bag says swimming lessons, and the 2nd is snocones! Both of which we are going to do this week. The best part is they don’t have a clue! I am looking so forward to seeing their faces when they get to open up the bags. Some of our other “surprises” this summer include,

picnic, Woolaroc, hike, zoo, library, late movie with sleeping bags in the living room, drive-in movie, frozen yogurt, water balloons, bake a treat, fishing, make forts, mini golf and the sprinkle park.

And one last thing I thought would be helpful is to start sticking the amount of money I will need into each little pouch as a way to save for each outing (the ones that require $).

What about you? Have you starting thinking about what activities you want to do with your kids this summer?

Thanks for reading,

xx

That is adorable Jesse, and your kids will love the surprises! the bags are so cute too! We like to visit different cities in our area – some that we have already visited that we really like, and then always new ones. We were just talking about it this morning – we have 2 new cities picked so far – I can’t wait till summer vaca!

Such a cute idea! I wish I had the summer off with my kids. You are so fortunate to be able to stay home with your children. I don’t know if this is on your list, but you guys should check out the Blue Hole in Salina. Or maybe visit Turner Falls and Arbuckle Wilderness in Davis, OK.

what a great idea! I might just have to borrow the concept…and at least stick some money back in an envelope for different things we want to do this summer. Can’t wait to read your future posts showing the excitement on the Peak’s faces as they enjoy each surprise! ๐Ÿ™‚
